In Lititz and the surrounding areas, there are dozens of exciting events to attend within the next few months. As a longtime resident of Lancaster County, I hope everyone can eventually experience the charm of our area. Here are a few upcoming events that are especially worth highlighting.

Fasnacht DayMarch 5th, 2019

If you say the word “fasnacht” outside of Pennsylvania, most people won’t know what you’re talking about. In Lancaster County, fasnachts are an intrinsic part of the Fat Tuesday celebration, which falls on March 5th this year.

A fasnacht is a donut without a hole, but the flavor and texture are slightly different from your typical donut. The pastries are often served plain, but it’s not uncommon for them to be glazed or coated in powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar.

Local churches and bakeries are known for their dedication to providing their visitors with the best pastries possible.

Baseball Season at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster

Friday, April 26th is opening night at Clipper Stadium! Opening night will be superhero themed, and there will be fireworks on Friday and Saturday. The Lancaster Barnstormers are part of the Freedom Division of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Their mascot is the beloved red cow named Cylo.

Philanthropy is a huge part of how the Barnstormers represent the Lancaster community. Many of the home games are designed to benefit various nonprofit organizations, and there is even a CommunityAid donation location in the parking lot.

Murder at Mount Hope Mansion: Interactive Dinner Theatre

From now through April 28th, enjoy an interactive murder mystery dinner theatre at the Mount Hope Estate & Winery. Performances run roughly 3 hours in length, and guests are highly encouraged to play along with the actors, making each night a unique experience for all involved.

Lititz Pretzel FestSaturday, May 4th

Lititz is home to the first commercial pretzel bakery in North America, thanks to the Sturgis family who began their business in 1861. To celebrate that history, Lititz holds an annual Pretzel Fest, presented by the Kiwanis Club of the Lititz Area and The Lititz Retailers.

Guests can expect pretzel tasting, beer tasting, music, games, prizes, face painting, balloon animals and a bounce house. It’s a great treat for people of all ages.

Lancaster county has something for everyone! What event are you most looking forward to?
