In 2013, the small town of Lititz, Pennsylvania was awarded a big honor by Budget Travel. The Lancaster County town was awarded the #1 Coolest Small Town in America on a list of 15 small towns.

Amidst fierce competition between 924 nominated towns, it’s not hard to see why Lititz emerged victorious. The town has history, culture and food that is worthy of recognition.

The Best of Lititz

Whether you’re looking to settle down or just take a weekend vacation, the quaint charm of Lititz makes it the perfect destination. Being just a 90-minute drive from Philadelphia and a 50-minute drive to Harrisburg, you can experience the beautiful rolling farmland without being too far removed from city life.

Aside from Amish country, you’ll also find an incredibly well-preserved small-town culture with a vibrant downtown. Whether you’re looking for coffee and pastries, craft beer, a quick bite to eat, or a unique shopping experience, Lititz has it all.

Just a few of the eateries highlighted by Budget Travel are Tomato Pie Cafe, Appalachian Brewing Company, Olio, Zest, Bulls Head Public House and Cafe Chocolate.

If you’ve never visited the Lititz Historical foundation to emerge yourself in colonial-era history or strolled through Lititz Springs Park to feed the ducks and admire the scenery, you’re missing out. While you’re there, be sure to check out the Moravian Church and God’s Acre cemetery.

Some of the most anticipated events of the year include car shows and the famous Fourth of July extravaganza.

If you’ll be staying overnight to extend your visit, check out any of the B&Bs and small inns scattered throughout the town. If you prefer a larger hotel, Lititz also has a Holiday Inn Express & Suites.

Lititz Fact Collection

The Lititz Borough only occupies a total area of 2.3 square miles, and has a population of 9,385. The town was named in 1756, then incorporated in 1888, which contributes to its rich history. In fact, Lititz was awarded the Distinctive Destination/National Trust of Historic Preservation award.

Lititz is truly small but mighty, being home to internationally recognized companies, such as Wilbur Chocolate, Johnson & Johnson, BB&T, Atomic Design and Tait Towers.

Although it has been more than 5 years since Lititz won the coveted “Coolest Small Town in America” award, they continue to live up to high standards that put them on that list. This is part of the reason Oak Tree Development Group decided that Lititz was the perfect location for our next project, developing luxury condominiums.
